How much time Online Banking or NEFT takes to transfer money from one bank to another
For NEFT, RBI decides time for transfer money from following mention time for NEFT. In general, the average time of NEFT transfer is 1 hour, it can sometimes take more time like 2-3 hours, or it may also get completed in 10-20 minutes. RBI have scheduled 11 baths every weekday for NEFT settlement and five baths on Saturday, and there is no NEFT settlement on Sunday. So you cannot do any NEFT transfer on Sunday. Following are full NEFT Batch timings.
RBI do 11 NEFT settlement batches every day, Monday to Saturday. On 2nd and 4th Saturday NEFT holidays are observed.
Batch timings are the timings when your transfer requests are forwarded to beneficiary’s Bank by RBI.
Below are the NEFT timings of Batches.
Monday to Saturday:- 09:00, 10:00, 11:00, 12:00, 13:00, 14:00, 15:00, 16:00, 17:00, 18:00 and 19:00 hrs.
How NEFT Works Online Banking?
According to RBI, There are 5 steps for Transfer NEFT Payment through Net banking.
Step:1 Adding Beneficiary – First you have to add the beneficiary to transfer the payment through net banking. In this you need to provide Beneficiary account number, name, Bank Branch IFSC code, and some time address also. You can add beneficiary to your account directly from your Internet banking.
Step:2 Once you transfer fund to one account to another account NEFT service centre inform another bank account and transfer the fund to that account.
Step:3 The NSC then forwards the message to the NEFT Clearing Center, which is operated by National Clearing Cell, Reserve Bank of India, Mumbai. NEFT clearing centre then schedules it for the next available batch. And they sort the transaction according to destination bank and make an entry to receive funds from the originating banks (known as debit) and give the funds to the destination banks(known as credit).
Step:4 Now when the scheduled batch time comes, a remittance message is sent to destination bank by there NEFT centre. And funds are passed to a bank, then bank transfer that fund to the beneficiary account.

- Open Fund transfers/ Third party transfers.
- Select the transaction type i.e. Within the same bank, To another bank etc.
- After selecting you will be redirected to next page where you will have to fill following details.
- Beneficiary account from the list you already added.
- Amount to be transferred.
- Account from which fund is to be transferred (in case you have multiple accounts connected in same Internet Banking ID)
- Remarks of the payments.
- Schedule type: Transfer Now, Schedule for later, etc.
